The vibrant neighbourhood of Mylapore in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, renowned for its rich cultural heritage and as a nurturing ground for various art forms passed down through generations, became the backdrop for Guru Nila's inspiring journey into the world of Bharatanatyam.

Her dance odyssey began with the Thanjavur style under the guidance of Hemnath Ragu, where she laid a strong foundation in this classical art form. Eager to expand her repertoire, Guru Nila pursued further training with Ms. Lakshmi from Bharata Vidya Bhavan, mastering diverse forms of Bharatanatyam. Her passion led her to the Kancheepuram style, which she studied with dedication under the tutelage of Natya Manjari.

The turning point in Nila's artistic journey came when she was mesmerized by the Kalakshetra style of Bharatanatyam, renowned for its ballet-like grace. Inspired by the legendary Rukmini Devi Arundale, Nila sought to learn this enchanting style from Surya Narayana Moorthy, and Divya Hari.

Guru Nila's journey in Bharatanatyam has been a source of immense joy and rejuvenation, allowing her to navigate a hectic schedule with a lighter mind and a youthful spirit. Her passion for this art form has not only enriched her own life but also inspired her to share its myriad benefits with others.

Guru Nila, a dedicated advocate and passionate Bharatanatyam artist, has made significant strides in both her professional and artistic pursuits. Recognizing the profound impact that Bharatanatyam has on concentration, mental peace, and physical health and structure, she founded Gynanaguru Natyala. Through her extensive experience choreographing for numerous schools and cultural events, Guru Nila was driven by a desire to make this art form accessible and enjoyable for everyone.

Relocating to Madurai for her legal profession, Nila established Gyanaguru Natyala with the unwavering support and blessings of renowned Kalakshetra dance teachers, Jylosona and Divya Hari, as well as her family and friends.

Gyanaguru Natyala aims to spread the joy of Bharatanatyam, offering a simpler form of dance that brings happiness not only to the performers but also to the audience. Guru Nila's inspiring journey continues to enrich the lives of many, promoting the timeless beauty and benefits of Bharatanatyam.
